RESPONSE TO ARTICLE “THE DEMISE OF THE LARGEST AND OLDEST BAOBAB TREES”

In the last couple of days the article “The demise of the largest and oldest Baobab trees” was published and shared on many major online platforms, including the british guardian, CNN or the nature magazine. The article descirbes that more and more older Baobab trees are dying due to climate change and that this could be just the start of a new phenomenon.

We from the African Baobab Alliance, which is including many companies dealing everyday with the Baobab trees and their precious fruits, don’t share the opinion of the author that his observations are the first signs of a broad phenomenon and feel very sad that such an article is now threatening the livelihoods of thousands of harvesters across africa.
